Lytisha is a Nottingham, UK based poet, performer, film maker, editor and educator. Artistic director of Poetry Aloud presents: delivering hybrid in-venue and via Zoom curated stages and workshops for all ages.
Lytisha’s poetry ranges from the quiet and reflective, through to political anti-austerity and anti-bigotry, via the 69 bus. Her work can be found in several anthologies, and on-line performances, alongside her pamphlets: Hear me Crack and Melt published 2022, A Backpack on his Backpack published 2019 by Poetry Aloud. Every Last Biscuit published 2017 by Green Feather Books.
Performances include: Edinburgh Fringe, Ludlow Literature Festival, Splendour Festival, Nottingham Poetry Festival, Inspire Poetry Festival, and Buxton Festival. Internationally: Speakeasy in Brussels, Poetry Live in Auckland, and Inside Out, Ponsonby, New Zealand. Plus many zoom based performances worldwide since 2020.
She is a member of DIY poets, and World Jam: Nottingham’s global poetry and music collective. She produces events as Poetry Aloud presents: at festivals.
Lytisha’s short stories have been published in various anthologies including Write Like a Girl, Monster, Over Land, Over Sea: Poems for those seeking refuge, and Visual Verse.
Her short play Gone Fishing was first performed in April 2016, and her poetry was incorporated into the play Just Cuckoos by Emerging Perspectives theatre company 2016.
A Journey Inside is a spoken word and contemporary music score written by Lytisha and premiered in collaboration with CoMA at the National Contemporary Music Festival 2018, and was performed at Nottingham Poetry Festival 2018. A Journey Inside VR Poem Experience is the Virtual Reality experience developed from the poem and score. It premieres in Nottingham in May 2023
